Jefferson County One Room
Schoolhouse Reunion
photos
The Johnson
Creek Historical Society held a Reunion of all Jefferson County
One-Room Schoolhouses. Attendees, teachers and the general public attended.
The event was held on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at
the new Community Center on Union St. in Johnson Creek, WI, from 11:00a.m.
to 4:00p.m.
There was no admission fee. A ‘Box Social’ type luncheon
was available along with an afternoon program and reminiscing. A photo copier was available
to share old schoolhouse photos with others for a minimal fee. Displays of memorabilia from
surrounding societies will also be on hand.
At one time there were as many as 125 of these small
schoolhouses scattered across our Jefferson County countryside.
The society offered for sale the “One-Room Schools of Jefferson
County” book, a written and pictorial history, as well as a
2007 calendar
featuring schools from each township. Proceeds from the book sales will be
used by the Johnson Creek Historical Society to move the Rock River Valley
School from Milford Township to the Village of Johnson Creek, where it will
be home to our society.
